Personal Branding on LinkedIn

Fancy 3 quick tips for upping your #PersonalBranding game on #LinkedIn?

✅ Sort out your bloody profile: Your LinkedIn profile is often the first impression people have of you. Personal branding starts with a well-optimised profile… It needs to be good but also it needs to be YOU. LinkedIn used to be more of a job-hunting platform, but it’s becoming ever more social-media-like. So get a decent photo of you looking like a decent human being, write a headline that says what you do, tell people what you are good at in your bio, but also try not to take yourself too seriously! Why not tell your favourite dad joke in your bio? Or mention that you are learning the ukulele? People love people, not CVs.

✅ Get engaging: You can’t really buy reach and engagement on LinkedIn in quite the same way a Google Ad or Facebook boost would work… if you want engagement on LinkedIn, you have to put in the time and effort to respond to other people. Imagine LinkedIn as a networking event – you wouldn’t stand up, do you pitch, then sit down and ignore everyone, that would just be rude and would fail to achieve the goal of good networking, which really NOT selling. So don’t post about how brilliant you are and then not also pay some respect to the work and content of others.

✅ Authenticity: People prefer authentic arseholes over folk who pretend to be nice. Be genuine in your interactions, don’t just like and comment on posts because they are target clients… that’s about as transparent as my carpet (which is not transparent at all, for clarity). People connect with real, relatable individuals, so like things you actually like, and comment things you would actually say to someone’s face.

Hope that helps and hope you’re all having a great week!
